The data fail the validity check
| » | if the terminal employs term info capabilities exit_ca_mode ( rmcup) or non_rev_rmcup ( nrrmc) are defined, or |
| » | if curses knows that the terminal has been written to since the preceding scr_dump call. |
X/Open defines no failure conditions. In this implementation, each function fails if it cannot open filename.
SVr4 omitted the const qualifiers.
SVr4 documentation describes scr_init such that the dump data is also considered invalid if the time-stamp of the tty is old but does not define old.

| “ | Our grievance is not just against Unix itself, but against the cult of Unix zealots who defend and nurture it. They take the heat, disease, and pestilence as givens, and, as ancient shamans did, display their wounds, some self-inflicted, as proof of their power and wizardry. We aim, through bluntness and humor, to show them that they pray to a tin god, and that science, not religion, is the path to useful and friendly technology. | ” |
