解説

japropos はシステムコマンドに関する短い記述を含んだ日本語マニュアルページおよびオリジナルの英文マニュアルページ用のデータベースファイルをキーワードによって探索して、結果を標準出力に表示します。 jwhatis は同様に、キーワードと完全に一致したもののみを表示します。 どちらのコマンドも、日本語マニュアルページを探索するためにはあらかじめ環境変数 LC_CTYPE か LANG を ja_JP.EUC に設定しておく必要があります。

返値

japropos は成功時には 0 を、該当するキーワードがなかった時には 1 を返します。
