解説

GNU の size ユーティリティは、引数リスト中の各オブジェクトファイル objfile に対し、そのセクションサイズ --- 及び全体サイズ --- を表示します。 デフォルトでは、各オブジェクトファイルないしアーカイブ中の 各モジュールごとに 1 行ずつ出力します。

objfile... は、検査対象のオブジェクトファイルです。 なにも指定しないと、a.out ファイルが使用されます。

オプション

コマンド行オプションは次の意味を持ちます:
-A
-B
--format=compatibility これらのオプションの 1 つを用いて、GNU size の出力形式を、System V の size 形式風にする ( -A 又は --format=sysv を用いる) か、Berkeley の size 形式風にする ( -B 又は --format=berkeley を用いる) かを選択します。 デフォルトは Berkeley 形式に似た 1 行フォーマットです。

次の例は、Berkeley (デフォルト) フォーマットの size の出力です:

--help 利用可能な引数及びオプションの要約を表示します。
-d
-o
-x
--radix=number これらのオプションの 1 つを用いて、各セクションのサイズを 10 進数 (-d 又は --radix 10)、 8 進数 (-o 又は --radix 8)、 16 進数 (-x 又は --radix 16) で表示するようにします。 --radix=number 形式では、3 種類の値 (8, 10, 16) のみサポートされています。 全体サイズは常に 2 種類の基数で表示されます。 -d 又は -x を指定した場合は 10 進数と 16 進数、 -o の場合は 8 進数と 16 進数です。
-t
--totals 列挙した前オブジェクトの総計を表示します (Berkeley フォーマットでの列挙モードのみ)。
--target=bfdname objfile に対し、特定のオブジェクトコードフォーマット bfdname を指定します。この指定は必要ないかもしれません。 size コマンドは多くのフォーマットを自動的に認識します。
-V
--version size のバージョン番号情報を表示します。
